Principal and Cowboy

Here is a pair of prints by my friend Brandy Agerbeck of www.loosetooth.com that I’ve placed in my office at school. I received the matched prints for my birthday back in July from my wife, and I just got around to framing them last week.

These drawings were based upon two cigar wrappers that serve as belts for the two characters. The one on the left is titled “Principal,” and the wrapper says “El Principal.” The one on the right is titled “Shaw,” and the wrapper says “Shaw’s Good Advice.”

I like them because they remind me of the situational nature of being a department head; that is, they serve as icons that remind me that sometimes I need to talk the windy jargon of the administrator, and sometimes I need to talk the simple love of the cowboy poet.
