Specificity Illustrated

Find here several outstanding handmade responses from students in my advanced English grammar class who have just read a couple of chapters on writing with clarity in June Casagrande’s It was the best of sentences, it was the worst of sentences.


The purpose of the handmade response assignment is to promote reading engagement so that students will be prepared for class discussion of the assigned reading for the day.

(By the way, while I enjoy the simplicity and direct discussion of grammar and style in Casagrande’s book, it could–like most books I read–use some effective illustrations to further engage and assist readers. )
